Trimming down the abdominal fat to get a six pack physique is a dream of many people but few make it reality. Still, I have not achieved this one, although I have endeavored much in this area. Here is my Why not and what I am getting out of it:
1. There is only one key to this rule – consistency; But then again…life happens.
Consistency is very important especially when it comes to embarking on any kind of fitness program. But guess what, life happens and sticking to a rigid schedule is oftentimes close to impossible. Many a times I fail to make it to the gym on a particular day, parties and family functions also hinder my workout and meal schedules. Actually, it’s a bit of both – it is never all-rosy and at other times, one has to sacrifice the physical aspect of fitness in the process.
2. Nutrition: The Unseen Battle
Belly are made in the kitchen or commonly said about everywhere. Even though I’ve focused on my diet, getting a six-pack means that for the most part, you must practice impeccable nutrition. Losing weight is not all about reducing the number of calories that one takes, but rather about eating the correct proportions of the wrong food. But even aiming to avoid is not an easy task because just going through nutrition facts and avoiding cravings is really challenging.
3. Understanding My Body Type
Everyone's body is different. There are those who are genetically inclined to carry more fats in their body than others who may probably digest foods faster. Just knowing what type of body I have and how it reacts to the food I eat and the exercise I do has been a/itself an experience. One has to understand this fact that every individual is different, and therefore, one should not impose a universal type of fitness regime on everybody.
4. The Mental Game
Fitness is not only the muscular but also the mental assertion. Motivation, handling of set backs and the ability to overcome the stubborn phases need one to be mentally prepared. It there are moments, which make one speculate and think that his or her advancement is almost negligible on certain days. These mental barriers are critical to conquering if one must sustain success over the long haul.
5. Lack of time and patienceOne thing with achieving a six pack it is not something that can be achieved within few days. This, of course, requires time, patience and lots of efforts. This is really frustrating and can get demoralising if fast outcomes are not received. On this note, I get motivated by the fact that fitness is not a day’s journey but rather a lifetime journey.
6. Finding Balance
It is all good to want to have six packs, but it is equally important not to overdo it, but rather aim for healthy living. This is sometimes a problem with fitness enthusiasts who focus too much on abs, a particular area of the body, to a neglect of other necessary facets of health. Fitness for me is than heath, it entails strength, flexibility, sound mind, good heart, and yes a washboard stomach.
